e-Listener Preparation Programmes
To prepare volunteers to respond to emails as members of our e-Listening Team, we offer all new recruits a comprehensive e-Listener Preparation Programme that aims to build the knowledge, skills, understanding and confidence that they need to perform the role in the way the Lord has commissioned us to perform it.
The training is conducted on ZOOM - so everyone can participate from the comfort of their own home.
The preparation programme comprises 6 modules conducted oversix weeks at times that are convenient to you.
Each module is undertaken with an experienced trainer, and comprises a mix of guidance, discussion, activities, skills practice and role plays. Modules are usually conducted in pairs or small groups to facilitate the sharing of ideas, role play and peer feedback.
The e-Listener Preparation Programme comprises the following three key elements:
WHAT ARE WE ALL ABOUT?
Three introductory modules help you to understand the vision, mission and core values of New Kapporet, to respond compassionately to emailers in the presence of the Lord, and to encourage them to lay their problems at the Lord's feet in prayer.
WHERE DO WE NEED TO EXERCISE SKILL OR JUDGEMENT?
Two experience-based modules help you to develop the judgement you need to respond to difficult emails (such as where safeguarding or suicidal feelings are involved), to learn how to apply the technology we use to run the Ministry, and to practice the knowledge and skills you will need to be an effective e-Listener.
GOING LIVE WITH CONFIDENCE
In Module 6, you will have your first live experience of responding to emails , whilst being supported by your trainer (now mentor).
Each email you compose is reviewed before being sent, to ensure that it encourages engagement with the Ministry, offers relevant scripture to help the emailer listen to the WORD of God, and helps them to lay their burdens at the feet of the Lord through prayer.
You can repeat this module, if you want further opportunity to build your skills and confidence in responding to different kinds of situations. Your mentoring will continue until you feel really comfortable with your new role.
